About the Role

Datapraxis is seeking an Analytics and Data Engineer to join our growing team. We are looking for individuals to support the growth of our Research and Analytics team, by building new data pipelines as we expand our capabilities and offerings and developing and maintaining our current infrastructure and tools.   

​

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively develop and maintain core data pipelines, syncs, and workflows that support other Analytics capabilities. 

  • Administer Analytics tools and infrastructure, including BigQuery.

  • Design, build, and maintain core data assets that provide clean, transformed data for analysis.

  • Create tools to allow Analytics staff to better manage ETL/data cleaning, data movement, and data infrastructure.

  • Develop and enforce team-wide engineering best practices in dbt and develop automated tests and toolsets to allow the entire Analytics team to write consistent, bug-free code.

  • Help ensure data platform reliability, security, and performance, through projects that add monitoring and helping analysts and other users optimise code.

  • Develop syncs between analytics infrastructure and new tools as needed.

  • Other engineering tasks in support of the analytics team.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience as a data engineer, engineering-focused analyst, database administrator, software engineer, or similar.

  • 2+ years using SQL, Python, and other scripting languages professionally.

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • A desire to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and implement creative solutions to unique problems.

 

Additional Useful Skills & Qualifications:

  • GCP experience (in particular, BigQuery, Google Cloud Storage, Google Apps Scripts)

  • Experience using dbt

  • Experience using Git

  • Commitment to advancing democracy and progressive politics in Europe.

  • Detail and process orientation–you have strong attention to detail when executing tasks, and you relish the chance to provide impactful support to dynamic political contexts and turn around a high volume of client-facing projects with fast turnaround times.

  • Systems orientation to analyst and data scientist workflows–you may have familiarity with public opinion data and political modelling, and know that data infrastructures help keep those capabilities humming.
